14 Nov Common Teeth Cleaning Mistakes to Avoid.
Think you know everything there is to know about dental hygiene? Think again, because most people make very basic errors when it comes to cleaning their teeth. Let’s take a look! The first mistake people make is to use a plastic toothbrush, thinking it cleans teeth better. A bamboo toothbrush is actually far superior as it is anti-microbial and prevents the growth of bacteria that can cause tooth and mouth infections. This is also a more environmentally-friendly option as a bamboo toothbrush is an eco-friendly toothbrush as well. In addition to going plastic-free in terms of brushing your teeth, take a look at the amount of toothpaste you use. Most people tend to use far too much toothpaste when all that is required is a pea-shaped amount of toothpaste. If you struggle with using too much toothpaste, a great option is to use toothpaste tablets. These come in perfect, pre-portioned amounts so you can be sure that you are using the exact amount needed for wonderfully clean teeth.
Another common error many folks make is not brushing long enough. Dentists recommend that you brush your teeth twice a day, and for 2 minutes (minimum) each time. This includes brushing your tongue and the inside of your cheeks. A useful way to make sure that you brush your teeth for long enough is to set a timer for two minutes. A lot of people brush their teeth too hard which not only damages your toothbrush, but also your gums. Brushing too hard can result in small injuries to the gum, allowing bacteria to enter and cause infections. We recommend making a conscious effort to use less pressure when brushing and also to use a soft-bristled toothbrush. Do you make any of these mistakes or how do you ensure that your teeth are healthy and clean at all times?
